【Message from the Presenter】
What kind of support can we provide to children who need assistance in a school environment?
For children with visual impairments, tools such as braille, tactile graphics (books printed with raised resin ink), or low-vision-friendly notebooks and handouts can be effective. For children with hearing impairments, strategies like seating them closer to the teacher can make a difference.
But what about children who need support with behavioural challenges? Understanding a child’s unique characteristics and providing tailored support is crucial not only for effective classroom management but also for fostering their learning.
Furthermore, how can schools back up teachers who are supporting children with special needs? In this seminar, we will explore classroom-level strategies and school-wide support frameworks that can assist both teachers and students.
【講師からのメッセージ】
学校という環境で支援が必要な子どもには、どのようなサポートができるでしょうか。視覚に支援が必要な子どもには、点字や触図（樹脂インクで盛り上げて印刷された本）、またはロービジョン向けのノートやプリントが有効です。聴覚に支援が必要であれば、先生の近くに座ってもらう事などもできます。では、行動面での支援が必要な子どもには、どのようなサポートが必要でしょうか。子どもの特性を理解し、その特性に合った支援をする事がクラスマネジメントをする意味でも必要ですし、その上で子どもたちの学習をサポートする事ができます。また、支援が必要な子どもをサポートする教員を、学校はどのようにバックアップできるでしょうか。セミナーでは、担任やアシスタント教員ができる支援の他に、学校全体でのサポート体制をみなさんと考えていきたいと思います。

Ms Yoko Creber
School Learning Support Officer
Special Education Teacher at JCS Japanese School City Campus
Born in Tokyo, Japan.
Graduated from the Health Science Department of the Faculty of Physical Education at Nippon Sport Science University.
Since 2015, Yoko has been teaching Stage One primary school classes and preschool classes at JCS Japanese School City Campus. In 2023, she began a trial special education class, and in 2024, she officially launched the class after receiving accreditation from the community language school where she currently serves as a homeroom teacher.
On weekdays, Yoko works at Schools for Specific Purposes, supporting children with severe intellectual disabilities as a school learning-support officer, providing assistance with their learning and overall school life.
She is dedicated to creating a classroom environment tailored to the unique characteristics of each child, both at local schools and at Japanese community language schools.

特別学級支援員
JCS日本語学校シティ校 特別支援クラス教諭
東京都出身。日本体育大学体育学部健康学科卒。
2015年よりJCS日本語学校シティ校にて小学校低学年と幼児クラスの指導を行う。2023年に特別支援クラスのトライアルを開始し、翌2024年度からCL校の認定を受けてクラスを開校、担任を務める。
平日は、重度知的障害児の支援学校にて、スクールラーニングサポートオフィサーとして、障害を持った子供達の学習や、学校生活全般のサポートを行う。
現地校また日本語補習校で、子供達それぞれの特性に合った学習環境を整えるクラス作りを目指している。
