Contemporary Ceramics: Artist Talk
By Ryota Aoki and Gentaro Yokoyama
March 3, 2017
Aoki and Yokoyama, two members of the boundary-pushing Ikeyan ceramics group, will discuss their practices and the culture of kogei (Japanese traditional craft) in contemporary Japanese ceramics. With technical mastery in their medium, both artists seek to invigorate traditional craftsmanship with their experimental glaze research, new forms, suggestive sculptural works, and functional tableware.
This talk complements our Contemporary Ceramics exhibition by Aoki and Yokoyama. The exhibition runs March 1 – April 7, 2017.
