This April, The Japan Foundation, Sydney brings a mix of events for all ages. Enjoy leisurely and elegant Japanese ink wash paintings with an Australian flavour at Kachōfūgetsu: Sumi-e works, a group exhibition by Sydney-based artists. There will also be a special film program for the young ones, showcasing some nostalgic anime movies. All events will take place at The Japan Foundation, Sydney, located in Central Park.

KACHŌFŪGETSU: Sumi-e works
13 April—5 May 2017
Celebrating the sumi-e (ink wash painting) tradition, the work of these Japanese artists is anchored in centuries-old ink painting technique and peppered with gestures to the present and their local Sydney context.
The diversity in their approach to both subject matter and technique mirrors the artists’ different training backgrounds, and the nature of sumi-e tradition to reflect the interior perception of nature.

April School Holidays Film Program
18—20 April 2017
The Japan Foundation, Sydney will host free film screenings for parents and their children this April school holidays. The program will feature classic anime favourites including Studio Ghibli’s Ponyo as well as Crayon Shin Chan: Bravo! Samurai Battle, A Letter to Momo and Wolf Children. Both English dub films and English-subtitled films with original Japanese audio will be available. All films in the program are classified G or PG.
