National Diet Library: Free Subscription Service for Overseas Libraries
The National Diet Library (NDL), which functions as both Japan’s parliamentary library and its only legal deposit library, has launched a new subscription service to facilitate greater access to its rapidly growing digital archive.
Titled ‘Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries’, this free subscription service is available to libraries both within and outside of Japan. Interested libraries must register with the NDL to use this service.
This service may help to fill some of the gaps being created by changes to the collecting policies of local institutions, including those at the National Library of Australia.
