Yomikikase : Japanese Storytime for Children – Australia

This time, we are featuring Australia. We will invite members of the heritage language generation who grew up in Australia to read Japanese translations of works by Australian authors or picture books depicting scenes from Australia. One of these works will be read from a Japanese translation specially prepared for this event, with the author’s permission. On the day of the event, we will be displaying a selection of Australiana books in Japanese for general and juvenile readers. Take this opportunity to deepen your knowledge of Australia!

This event is delivered in Japanese and is aimed at children who speak Japanese at home from nursery school age to the early years of primary school.

The library has a rich collection of Japanese children’s books (over 1,500 volumes) and books on Japanese language education as heritage (community) language. The majority of the collection is available for loan.

幼稚園児から小学校低学年の児童を対象にした日本語よみきかせ会です。今回は、オーストラリア特集です。オーストラリア作家による作品の日本語版、またはオーストラリアの風物を取り扱った絵本を、オーストラリアで育った継承語世代の方に読んでいただきます。うち一作品は、英語版著者の許諾のもと、本イベント用に書かれた日本語訳で読む予定です。また当日は、日本語で読むオーストラリア関連図書（一般書・児童書）をディスプレイします。この機会に私たちが住むオーストラリアについて、より知識を深めませんか？
