Serenity in Japanese Living
February 22, 2020 – August 29, 2020
NOTICE March 23, 2020: The Serenity in Japanese Living event program has been cancelled. Refunds will be issued for any ticketed events. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to be able to reschedule in the near future. July 21, 2020: We are pleased to announce new dates for the Kintsugi workshops.
Coinciding with the Seikatsu Kogei: Objects for Intentional Living exhibition, The Japan Foundation, Sydney presents Serenity in Japanese Living, an event program themed around intention, inspiration and careful consideration. Just as the objects in the exhibition display elegance in the simplicity of nature, representing beautiful craftsmanship, and above all a degree of understanding for the art, so do the films, workshops, lectures, and demonstrations in this program.
Enjoy the shared emphasis on natural, thoughtful living of the Seikatsu Kogei movement and the various aspects of Japanese culture highlighted in this diverse program, from wagashi traditional sweets to the art of Kintsugi, or repairing broken ceramics with gold lacquer.
Presented in collaboration with the Gallery yamahon as part of Art Month Sydney.
