The 7th National Symposium on Japanese Language Education (NSJLE) will be held on October 30-31, 2026 (Fri-Sat).

The National Symposium on Japanese Language Education (NSJLE) is a biennial two-day conference for Japanese language educators at all levels and sectors from all Australian states and territories. It is organised by The Japan Foundation, Sydney, and the Melbourne Centre for Japanese Language Education.
NSJLE aims to provide a platform for teachers and stakeholders to discuss issues of national interest and network with their peers from around the country to encourage a stronger national network of Japanese language educators.
This symposium is a direct response to a recommendation in the 2010 report, The Current State of Japanese Language in Australian Schools and to the need for Japanese language educators to engage with important developments in language education policy under way at national and state levels, including the development of the Australian Curriculum – Languages.
NSJLE covers a wide range of topics related to Japanese language education, including sharing best practice, advances in classroom ICT, articulation, the Australian Curriculum and leadership and advocacy.
