Details regarding the next Marugoto Seminar will be made available here once the seminar date has been set.
We thank you for your interest and appreciate your continued patience and support.
This seminar is one in a series of practical seminars based on the JF Standard for Japanese Education from the Marugoto: Japanese Language and Culture series. In this seminar we will be covering content from the Intermediate (B1) Level.
We believe that many learners wish to take the next step into the Intermediate level after passing the Elementary and Pre-Intermediate stages, so that they will be responsive in a wide variety of topics and will be able to communicate in detailed Japanese at greater lengths. The Marugoto Intermediate stage supports learners in growing into independent Japanese users through classes designed to achieve specific ‘Can-do’ objectives.
In this seminar, we will be giving an overview of a topic’s learning flow, by using Topic 7 from the Intermediate 1 (B1) Level, “Taking on the challenge of Martial Arts!” as an example. Afterwards, in a mock class focusing on ‘Part 2: Have a Conversation,’ we will use the context and audio of a sample conversation to experience from the learner’s perspective the introduction of a long conversation. After that, based on ‘Can-do’ goals, we will consider the learner’s understanding of Intermediate level grammar and how to use it during conversational practice. We will also use ‘Part 3: Talk at Length’ to share the idea of a challenge that can also be enjoyable, then introduce both the course design and the presenter’s awareness in the Japanese courses offered at The Japan Foundation, Sydney.
As the variation increases and the topics expand, students begin to develop the capacity to interact with “real” Japanese people. We invite you to experience this with us through a Marugoto Intermediate level class.
We hope that this will prove helpful not only in your Marugoto classes, but in any ‘Can-do’ based course focused on Japanese communication.
*For those already using Marugoto or have participated in our seminars in the past, why don’t you take this opportunity to reflect on your everyday challenges? Those considering using Marugoto in the future are also more than welcome to attend.
*The Marugoto Intermediate 1 (B1) level Topic 7 “Take on the challenge of martial arts!” used in the seminar is available here for viewing as a sample on the Marugoto Website.
*This seminar will be a revised version of our seminar with the same title offered in October, 2023.
